Il Global Gateway di EU | 4: Il pacchetto per Medio Oriente, Asia e Pacifico

Il Global Gateway è l'offerta dell'Europa per collegare il mondo con investimenti e partenariati.

Data l'intensificarsi della concorrenza geopolitica nell'Asia-Pacifico, l'UE sta intensificando il suo impegno strategico con questa regione vitale. Il crescente peso economico, demografico e politico della regione la rende un partner fondamentale nella definizione dell'ordine internazionale basato su regole e nell'affrontare le sfide globali.

Con un quadro strategico rafforzato basato sul Global Gateway, sulla strategia dell'UE per la cooperazione nella regione indo-pacifica (2021) e sulla strategia dell'UE per l'Asia centrale (2019), l'UE mira a contribuire alla connettività, alla stabilità e alla prosperità della regione attraverso la duplice transizione digitale e verde e gli obiettivi di sviluppo sostenibile/sviluppo sostenibile. 

Il Global Gateway, con il sostegno delle banche di sviluppo e del settore privato, mira a fornire capitale per gli investimenti in infrastrutture dure e morbide, contribuendo a ridurre le carenze infrastrutturali della regione Asia-Pacifico. Per colmare la carenza di investimenti e avere un impatto veramente trasformativo, stiamo coinvolgendo sempre più il settore privato, sia dall'Europa che dalle regioni e dai paesi partner.

• Satellite Connectivity

Building satellite connectivity to reach the most underserved parts of Central Asian countries to reduce the digital divide through a gateway and terminals on the ground

• Critical Raw Materials

Technical assistance promoting best practices for resource classification, modernisation of mining and refining processes. Investments to support exploration of critical raw materials

• Transport

Promoting sustainable transport corridors between Europe and Central Asia

Partnerships with private institutional investors on climate-smart solutions digital  transformation and financial inclusion

Regional - South Asia

• South Asia Energy Connectivity

Support to solar PV power plants, hydro power plants and respective transmission lines for grid connection through Bhutan, extension of Chilime-Trishuli transmission line and Dudhkoshi Storage Hydroelectric Project in Nepal. Support to development of regional energy market and investment environment in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal

• Transport corridor

Rehabilitation of the highway linking Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam

Regional - Pacific Islands

• Climate

Strengthen the climate resilience of Pacific Islands’ ecosystems, economies and communities

-Construction of the 220 km Choir-Sainshand double circuit 220kV transmission line, and provision of basic infrastructure to SecondaryUrban Centres, e.g. roads, internet connection, electricity networks etc.

-Implementation of Forest partnership

-Construction of a new energy efficient hospital in Darkhan city

- Middle and last mile connectivity for 8mn people in rural areas
